Installation Guide
This guide will walk you through installing restartOS on your system or hardware platform. Whether you're using a USB drive, SD card, or other bootable media, follow these steps to get started.
Prerequisites
- At least 1GB of RAM (or more)
- 1GB of storage space on USB/MicroSD
- 64-bit Intel/AMD or ARM processor
Step 1: Download the ISO
Download the restartOS ISO for your architecture:
Step 2: Write to Boot Media
Use a tool like Rufus (Windows), Etcher (Mac/Linux), or dd (Linux) to write the ISO/image to your USB drive or SD card.
Using Rufus (Windows)
- Insert your USB drive
- Launch Rufus and select your USB drive
- Select the restartOS ISO file
- Choose "DD Mode" for best results
- Click "START" and wait for completion
Using Etcher (Mac/Linux)
- Open BalenaEtcher
- Select the restartOS ISO/image file
- Select your USB drive or SD card
- Click "Flash" and wait for completion
Step 3: Boot from Media
Restart your computer and boot from the USB/SD card. You may need to press a key (usually F12, F2, or Esc) during boot to access the boot menu.
Step 4: Complete Installation
restartOS boots directly from RAM, so no installation is required. Your system will be ready to use immediately after booting.
