Installation Guide

This guide will walk you through installing restartOS on your system or hardware platform. Whether you're using a USB drive, SD card, or other bootable media, follow these steps to get started.

Prerequisites

Step 1: Download the ISO

Download the restartOS ISO for your architecture:

Step 2: Write to Boot Media

Use a tool like Rufus (Windows), Etcher (Mac/Linux), or dd (Linux) to write the ISO/image to your USB drive or SD card.

Using Rufus (Windows)

  1. Insert your USB drive
  2. Launch Rufus and select your USB drive
  3. Select the restartOS ISO file
  4. Choose "DD Mode" for best results
  5. Click "START" and wait for completion

Using Etcher (Mac/Linux)

  1. Open BalenaEtcher
  2. Select the restartOS ISO/image file
  3. Select your USB drive or SD card
  4. Click "Flash" and wait for completion

Step 3: Boot from Media

Restart your computer and boot from the USB/SD card. You may need to press a key (usually F12, F2, or Esc) during boot to access the boot menu.

Step 4: Complete Installation

restartOS boots directly from RAM, so no installation is required. Your system will be ready to use immediately after booting.
